Kearney Lions Club Mud Run

The Kearney Lions Club is holding the 4th Annual Jesse James Showdown Mud Run on September 25, 2010 at Jesse James Park. This year we are celebrating our 60th year in the Kearney area and want to thank the community for allowing us to help where help is needed over the years.

By working together we've been able to support the community with medical equipment, free eye exam/glasses for Kearney-Holt patients who cannot afford them, donate food, money and school supplies to local food banks, recycle used eye glasses, donate money to Holt Ministerial Alliance, Backpack Ministry, UCM ROTC Fighting Mules, provide the Pence-McCoy Scholarship for a KHS Senior, recognize an Outstanding Boy and Girl in the Senior Class, sponsor the Halloween Party for Children, a Boy Scout Troop and Venturing Crew, support Eagle Scout Projects, send a KHS Band Student to Missouri Lions All-State Band Camp, donate to KHS PTO (After Prom Party), Kearney Quarterback Club, Holiday Helpers, Kearney Family Foundation, Kearney Senior Center, donate land for "Lions Park" in Kearney, Adopt-A-Highway, donate to Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation, Lions Heartland Eye Bank, Children's Center for the Visually Impaired, Mid-South Lions Hearing, District Hearing Van, Lions World Service for the Blind, Leader Dog for the Blind and Missouri Lions Disaster Services. We also support Lions Club International humanitarian service projects throughout the world.

Our annual fund-raisers are; the concession at July 3rd Fireworks Celebration, Fruit Sales in the fall, "A Visit From Santa" over the holidays and our ever popular Jesse James Showdown Mud Run event in September.

We are pleased to provide a popular event that brings people to Kearney and hope you can join us for another year of mud racing activities so we can continue to support the community!

First come, first serve! Email your name and your home state with your photo attached in an email to scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

Canadian Invasion!

I am getting a lot of support for articles and information coming out of Canada! I need the promoters in the USA to contact me and keep the stories flowing. scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

I am already working on some great stories for both countries....but the Canadian hospitality is overwhelming!!! If the leads don't keep flowing in the USA....I might just have to change to publication name to the Canandian Mud Racing Magazine!

Call for Photos and Videos

Call for photos and videos – I would be glad to host them on the site at www.scotts4x4.com Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

Event Results

Promoters - Please feel free to submit your event results for publication in the USA Mud Racing Magazine. I know the racers appreciate seeing there name in print. The next issue will have records from the Mud Racers Association and the Major League of Mud Racing. Yours can be added as well! Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

New Idea

New idea for the next magazine cover. As I requested before that people submit photos for the possibility of getting on the cover. I then noticed I have gotten photo responses from Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Georgia, New Jersey, Oregon, and British Columbia.

Let's see how many states and territories I can squeeze on the front and back cover. One per state....first come first serve. Please provide copyright approval, name, and city and state info with your submissions. Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

It is a great promotional chance too display to people that this sport is everywhere.

On another note - everyone in the sport can use this magazine individually or organizational to promote not only the sport, but them self as well. I am trying to create something for more than just entertainment purposes. I am trying to create something that when you are trying to get a sponsor and they ask why should they support you....you can plop this printed evidence on the table and say "because this sport is something big." Or if you are trying to put on an event or get support for an event... you can provide printed material that "this form of racing is something special."

Articles in Production

I have just finished putting together a handful of articles for the next issue of the USA Mud Racing Magazine. Including the state of safety in our sport, rules unification, tips of seeking out sponsors, instructions on writing effective press releases for events, and ideas to help more the sport grow and thrive.

If anyone has any ideas they would like me to research for future issues...please let me know. Conact scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

Outlaw Mud in Kearney, Missouri Sept 25, 2010

News from Ed:

Well, racers it is that time of the year for THE SUPER BOWL OF MUD RACING, this being the 60th year of the Kearney Lions Club we have the National Guard coming in with hummers and all kinds of gear to look at...but the big surprise is an Apache helicopter flying in to be there for the crowd to see. As last year we will have the moon walk for the kids to enjoy and there will be new additions to the menu at the concession. Right now we are working hard on getting permanent lighting in place and by September we will be ready to provide a great place for racing. As all of you have heard by now the insurance companies have put in some requirements for the events, a lot of these we already had in place, but we hope you all know that safety for the racers, families and spectators are the most important thing to us, and your cooperation will be greatly appreciated so we can continue to provide a safe fun event for everyone. It was really great seeing a lot of you at Buckner and we can't wait to see you in Kearney on September 25!!

Note from Dusty since he hasn't got an internet connection at the moment. Sum up - Thanks for the great turnout in the triple degree weather yesterday. We had a great collection of racers turn out..and it would have been a great show. And then the bad weather rolled in. A lot of waiting with all the lightning and the conditions, and the fair board had to cancel. Any news and developments will be posted.

Papergirl pics from Hamilton, Missouri

I got some great photos online from Diana Snarski - The Papergirl of the Paperboy Express Racing Team. These are her pics from Hamilton of the rail class. Stay tuned to the next edition of USA Mud Racing Magazine as I plan on having a Paperboy Express Racing Article talking about the past, present, and future of the Paperboy Express Team in the sport!

And be sure and visit the web site at http://www.paperboyexpress.net/

Magazines in the Mailboxes

Every current subscriber should have received there magazine issue # 5 in the mail by now. I know I had some subscriptions expire after #4 as subscriptions are in sets of 4. So I have some names that dropped of the mailing list. Drop me an email at scotts4x4@kc.rr.com in case you haven't got your issue or to make sure you are up to date on your subsriptions.

I am trying to make this magazine bigger and better - and that comes with everyone's help in the sport. Sometimes in the past the post office has let me down with some of these mailings and I have had to send multiple copies out. So just keep in touch and we will keep trying till we get you your copies. They are made for you to read, so we want to get them to you.

Hamilton Video

Here is some raw video collections from Hamilton. Lets just say it is a lot of video. They are the wmv format....and in this particular gallery...I have thumbnails generated. So in some cases you might be able to make out what you are about to watch. Only sometimes.

I was collecting various bits and pieces of elements for the television production (if that can even take off in this bad economy) ((hint...advertisers needed)). So if you wonder why I am video taping trucks that are not moving in the beginning....that would be the reason. So check out some videos....pick and choose what you want to try and watch or watch them all!

Thanks to all who filled in video taping for me at various times during the weekend!

News Stories

Gathering up news and information for the next issue of the USA Mud Racing Magazine. Contact me with stories or leads to stories. Events, activities, people, concerns, thoughts on the sport. Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

Venues Contact Me

I am putting a lot of effort into making the magazine as comprehensive to the sport as possible. I want to include events from the west coast and the east coast, and everything in between....and also include Canada and Mexico as well. But as always, I could really use more help and leads. This is a great way to advertise your event as well. I have quite a few people that would like to read about you. So please contact me and tell me about your events so I can include them in USA Mud Racing Magazine. Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com - emails are a lot easier to keep track of than phone calls.

Gibler Photo's Online

I got some photos from Kacey Gibler - managed to scan in close to 200 photos. Photos from Tim and Kacey racing over the years. A nice history of racing from the "Another Bad Decision" racing team. Check out the photo link below. Working on a story for the next USA Mud Racing Magazine about them.

Right now the photo links are online via the message board. Along with some videos that I created:

I have some great stories in the works....and I have some great stories coming in. But please share your mud racing stories, activities, event info, profiles, racing stories....everything related to racing...so we can get it in the USA Mud Racing Magazine. Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

Mud Racing on Television

Earlier in the season I mentioned that I was trying to get some Mud Racing coverage on television. I have not been able to get much response from sponsors and advertisers for the television production I was putting together. Lots of interest.....but it is the financial kind that is needed to make it happen. Just a matter of dollars that I don't have for this at the moment. So....services for hire! I have been video editing suitable for television for the last decade.....so if you need some help with a special project, let me know. Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

Support for the Magazine

I have statistically noticed on the message board that there is a lot of potential subscribers to the magazine. I have made the USA Mud Racing Magazine a medium available that supports the sport and can contribute to its success. Efforts that add up to get more places to have events, more sponsors to contribute money, more people that want to participate in the sport.....and a lot more. I see a lot of people promoting events on the site so that the sport can be successful. I see a lot of people buying and selling items so that they can be successful in the sport. So please support the magazine so it can continue to play a role in supporting you and the sport as well! Thanks. Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com

Advertisers Needed!

We are in very much need of advertisers so that the publication can continue to grow. I don't think I have to elaborate the details more than that! Please support USA Mud Racing Magazine! Thanks! Email scotts4x4@kc.rr.com
